The Portland Reading Council is partnering with Water and Education Care International to provide resources for educators and students.
WE Care is a mission-oriented organization empowering disadvantaged communities through education and water infrastructure development. Student support and community water projects are now concentrated in and around the Mahero village in Western Kenya.
Scholarships and financial support is offered for students to complete secondary school and pursue higher education. (books, uniforms, room and board, laptops)
WE Care is currently building a Community Resource Center. Older students will be able to study in the Center and mentor younger students. They would like to include a library.
